• Question: Would you ever let your personal beliefs get in the way of your work?

      Hey Eirlyamae, That’s a tough one. If I felt that something was wrong or that an experiment wasn’t ethical (right) then I would stop or get it stopped. You have to think “why do I want to do that experiment”, or “what impact it might have?”. Especially if you work with animals. It is important to use your beliefs to guide you. Hope that makes sense

      Yes, I would let personal beliefs get in the way of my work. At the end of the day, if I think something is morally or ethically wrong, I couldn’t have that on my conscience, so I would have to draw a line under it and move on.

      I don’t think I could do something that went against my personal beliefs either in an ethical sense.

      It’s important to have an open mind though. If it was something that I didn’t believe in but wouldn’t cause harm to anything else I think I’d be more willing to try it.

      Scientists are just normal people. We shouldn’t let work get in the way of our personal beliefs.

      However, some people have very odd personal beliefs. 🙂 – and that can allow them to do some very odd things 🙁
