To our ears, the first words of the new species Homo sapiens (us) would have been complete jibberish. Over time language evolves and changes.

It’s interesting to think that all the evidence suggests the first homo sapiens were biologically the same as we are, so their thoughts and language abilities could well have been as complex as our own.

Hey SPA. I guess it’s just a grunty language that grew and changed into English, as we know it, over a long period of time

Language would have developed as we did. As we climbed the evolutionary ladder towards being Homo sapiens our intelligence would have increased and our language would have grown in complexity along with this intelligence.

We still use a lot of body language as communication no matter which language we speak, and this aspect of our communication probably wouldn’t have changed much since we were apes.
