Hi sauraj50, sgcpss42 and footiemadxxx. I think what makes me interested in science is just a nosey curiosity to know how things work. I like biochemistry most of all because it looks at something amazingly complicated like a fishes gills, or our own hearts, and then looks more closely at the chemicals they’re made out of and tries to work out how those specific chemicals allow those biological things to work.
Science explains so many things! I am fascinated by how things work, and why they do different things. Science has always allowed me to find out how and why, and the answers that I’ve got have been through doing practicals, not just learning things from a book or from the whiteboard.
Science also has no limits. Everything is possible! You just need to find out how to make it happen.
Are you interested in science? What is it that excites and interests you about it?
I find it challenging – I like to know why things happen, and what will happen next. I also hope that what I do will help make our lives better in the future.
I also, as a university prof, get to do whatever science I want to do – no one tells me what I can and can’t do. That’s the really fun bit (so long as I can persuade someone to give me the money to do it!
David hit the nail on the head. Being able to have a question and try and figure out the answer. You have a lot of little questions along the way, and it is exciting to tick them off 🙂
