Hi Caitlhan, when I was in college I studied biology, chemistry, physics and maths. When I started my GCSE’s I really wanted to be a scientist, so I choose sciencey subjects. If I’m honest though, I wish I hadn’t studied physics and used my fourth choice to do something a little different, like art or history. I love science, but mostly the biological sciences. I see from your profile that you are very interested in IVF, that’s a really interesting area of science. It still blows my mind that you can effectively grow an embryo outside of the body and then put it back in, to hopefully produce a baby.
I didn’t actually need biology to do biochemistry at Bath university. They teach you all the biology you need on the course. The most important subject was chemistry, a good knowledge of chemistry will help you in many areas of biological science, including IVF research.
That’s interesting! Yeah, I think I will definitely do chemistry because it is very interesting. I think I’d make my fourth subject P.E when I go to college and uni. Helped a lot.
Heya, If you want some more info on up to date science on IVF, there is a great website http://www.bionews.org.uk. If you subscribe to their news letter, they have really interesting science stories for everyone!
