      King of the world!!!!!!

It’s that feeling that keeps you going through the difficult and frustrating bits. Once you’ve felt it, you’ll probably never look back or stop.

I feel like I’ve achieved something, and that I’m able to move onto the next step, which means something new to tackle, and something different to do in the lab.

I feel really good, as James said “King of the World”. There can be some hard times in science, where experiments don’t work. But it is amazing when an idea that you had, works and does exactly what you want it to do. You feel like a great scientist! But it’s always on to the next thing, as the only way we ever hope to cure heart disease or cancer is to find and solve the next problem!

As James and Mike have said it’s an amazing feeling mixed (for me) usually with a little disbelief. You spend so long trying to show that something is so, that when you eventually do it my first question is “am I sure?” But it is that feeling that keeps you going through all the ups and downs.
