I really do love my job. I love the variety that it brings, and the fact that I can experiment to find out whether something will or won’t work. In a ‘normal’ job, you’re pretty much stuck doing the same thing all the time, so this is perfect for me, as I get bored so easily!
Hi shanlacey. I love my job. How many jobs are there were you can go from sitting at a desk checking your email to walking into a walk in freezer to get a flask of bacteria before slicing up some gel containing DNA which glows in the dark? Like Suze says, there’s a lot of variety!
yes, I do love it. Each day is quite different, and most of all I’m (mostly) in control of what I do and responsible for what I get done. I also get to meet lots of different people. Yesterday I had a meeting where we found a common thread between my work, an astronomer, a medical engineer and two zoologists – we even think it’s relevant to economics!
Its a fantastic job and, most of the time, i really enjoy it. Research is one of the areas where something new comes across your desk every day and you have a lot of choice of what you do. I can’t imagine doing a job where I didn’t have that kind of freedom.
