Yeah I do, someone I knew from rugby came to work in my group. It was great having a mate come and work with you. I’m also good friends with the people I work with in the lab. We try and get to the pub on a Friday.

I’ve made lots of friends through my work, and they’re all over the world. I usually meet them at conferences – which is one of the reasons (not the only one!) why we go to conferences!

Yes, everyone I work with is lovely, although the people that I spend the most time with are my friends from other places, like dance classes, school, or my undergrad friends and pst-grad friends from when I first started my PhD. We have quite a big group altogether, but the people change every year. New people come while others graduate and leave, so the dynamic at work is always changing. It’s good though!

Yes, some people I graduated with work in the same department as me. I’m also friends with the people who work in my lab and we go for days out together sometimes (which the boss pays for!).
