      Hi Dawnie!

Yes, there are a lot more male scientists than female scientists, although the way that they whine sometimes, you’d think that the balance was pretty even 😛

As a female scientist that is definitely quite girlie, I think that some older scientists do judge me a little bit however, when I publish a paper or give a talk, the resutls of my work speak for themselves, and as that is the ultimate sign of whether I’m a good scientist or not, I can be as girlie as I want to be, and wear my heels and run away from things when they go bang really loudly.

I think that it has made me more determined to do well in science, and is the reason that I love taking part in things like I’m A Scientist. It’s really important that girls aren’t scared about going into science because it will be full of men. We can do whatever men can do, and can normally do more than one thing at a time!

It’s really interesting that you’ve asked me that question, as this is the only zone that has one solitary girl alongside four men! This lot seem pretty normal though, so I’ll try not to give them too much of a hard time 😛
